Manual Focus Gauge Calibration – Fusion Maker, Edge, Pro

Learn how to calibrate the manual focus gauge on a Fusion Maker, Edge, or Pro machine.

Introduction

This procedure outlines the steps required to calibrate the manual focus gauge after completing the Focus Calibration Wizard. Proper calibration ensures that the gauge accurately reflects the correct focal height determined using the Calibration Wizard.

Note: The Calibration Wizard is available only on firmware version 1.1.2.1 or later. To update your firmware, navigate to Support > Software and Firmware Downloads.

Calibrating the Manual Focus Gauge

  1. After completing the Focus Calibration Wizard, jog the carriage so it is positioned above the engraved anodized aluminum test pattern.

  2. Press Auto Focus.

  3. Place the manual focus gauge on the carriage in its designated mounting location.

  4. Verify that the tip of the focus tool makes light contact with the surface of the material.

  5. If adjustment is needed, loosen the two brass fittings located at the end of the gauge.

  6. Turn the lower brass fitting to raise or lower the gauge until the tip lightly touches the material.

  7. Verify that the tip of the focus tool makes light contact with the surface of the material.

  8. Once the correct height is set, hold the bottom fitting and tighten the upper brass fitting.
