Click File in the menu bar at the top of the screen. Then select New from the drop-down list.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_01.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now enter your page size. Enter 4.5\u201d for the page width and 4.5\u201d for the page height. Then click OK.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_02.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Importing-and-Resizing\">Importing and Resizing a Graphic<\/h2>\n<p>Now we\u2019re going to import a graphic onto the page. For this example we will use <a href=\"\/assets\/files\/wood-square\/trees.wmf\">trees.wmf<\/a>, but you can use any graphic you prefer.<\/p>\n<p>Start by clicking File at the top of the screen, then select Import from the dropdown menu.<\/p>\n<p>Navigate to the file you\u2019d like to Import and select the file, then click the Import button.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_03.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now, click anywhere on the page to place your graphic.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_04.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To center the image on the page, select Object from the menu bar.<\/p>\n<p>Then select Align and Distribute, then Center to Page.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_05.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now we\u2019ll click and drag on the bottom right sizing handle to resize the image, and make it smaller. By holding down the shift key then clicking on the handle and dragging, we can keep the proportions of the image the same.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_06.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next we\u2019ll reposition the image by moving it up by about 1\u201d on the page by clicking on the graphic and dragging it up.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_07.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Second-Graphic\">Importing a Second Graphic<\/h2>\n<p>Now let\u2019s import another image. Go to File &gt; Import, and we\u2019ll choose the deer file (<a href=\"\/assets\/files\/wood-square\/deer.wmf\">deer.wmf<\/a>). Then Press the Import button.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_08.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click anywhere on the page to place the graphic.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_09.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This time we\u2019ll use another way to resize the deer. Click the Lock Ratio button to keep the dimensions the same as we resize the graphic.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_10.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Enter 10% as the scale factor and press Enter to resize the image to 10% of its original size.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_11.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll position the deer image to the bottom left side of the trees.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_12.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_13.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Adding-Text\">Adding Text to the Artwork<\/h2>\n<p>Now we\u2019re ready to add text. Click on the text tool in the tool bar on the left.<\/p>\n<p>Create a text box by clicking and dragging a rectangle next to the deer.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_14.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll enter our text \u201cThe poetry of the earth is never dead.\u201d Then press Enter and type \u201cJohn Keats\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_15.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select the pick tool, select the text, and then change the font size to 8 pt.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_16.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next select the right justify option to align the text to the right side of the text box. 8 pts. is a little small so we\u2019ll go ahead and change that to 10 pts.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_17.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_18.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Before we move on let\u2019s make the text box a little smaller. Select the Pick Tool, then click on the text box. Now click on the bottom middle sizing handle and drag it up to make the text box a little smaller.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_19.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Selecting-Grouping-Resizing\">Selecting, Grouping, and Resizing<\/h2>\n<p>Press Ctrl and A to select everything on the page.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_20.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next we\u2019ll group the items so they all stay together when we make changes. Click Object in the menu bar, then Group, then Group Objects.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_21.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now we\u2019ll center the images. Click Object, Align and Distribute, Center to Page.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_22.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Creating-Cut-Line\">Creating a Cut Line<\/h2>\n<p>Now let\u2019s create a cut line. Click the rectangle tool, and then click and drag a rectangle around the image.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_23.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll center the box we\u2019ve drawn by using the shortcut of pressing the letter P on the keyboard. This will center the box to the page.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"At-the-Laser\">At the Laser<\/h2>\n<p>Next we\u2019ll print the file to the laser.<\/p>\n<p>At the laser, we\u2019ll place the 4\u201d wood square onto our work area.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_24.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For the best results, place the square under one of the overhead IRIS positioning cameras.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_25.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At the control panel, select the Jog icon, then use the Joystick to position the laser head over the wood square.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_26.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_27.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_28.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From the open Jog menu, select \u201cAuto Focus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_29.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The machine will automatically adjust the height of the table by first using the plunger to detect the material, then moving the table to the correct focal distance.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_30.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select the Reset icon to reset the laser head.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_31.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_32.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Printing-to-Laser\">Printing to the Laser<\/h2>\n<p>Back in the CorelDRAW, select File, then Print from the dropdown menu.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_33.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Set Epilog Engraver as your printer, and make sure \u201cMatch orientation and size\u201d is selected as the Page setting. Then click the Print button.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_34.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Epilog Dashboard will open with our file and the IRIS camera feed.<\/p>\n<p>Click and drag the colored lines to expand the engraving area to include the wood square.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_35.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_36.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s zoom in a bit with our mouse scroll wheel.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_37.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now click and drag to select the entire graphic, and click and drag to position the graphic onto the wood square.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_38.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_39.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click the \u2018Engrave\u2019 process in the right-hand sidebar and let\u2019s set our engraving parameters. We\u2019re using a 120w laser, so we\u2019ll set our resolution to 500 DPI, our speed to 100%, and our Power to 50%. Let\u2019s also set our Dithering type to Stucki and our Engraving Direction to Bottom-Up.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_40.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next open the \u2018Vector\u2019 process and set the Speed to 20%, the Power to 100%, and the Frequency to 10% as well.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_41.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Refer to your system manual for the recommended settings for your wattage of laser.<\/p>\n<p>Now that our settings are good to go, we can click \u2018Print\u2019 to send the job to the laser.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_wood-square_42.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Running-the-Job\">Running the Job<\/h2>\n<p>At the laser, select the Job menu icon, then select the name of the current job.
