Setup the Artwork<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

Here we are creating a jig to pre-engrave four leather notebooks.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We\u2019ll add customized names to each one later.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The red lines are the outlines of the notebooks we\u2019ll cut out in a jig.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll cut an arrow at the top left corner so we know how to arrange the jig in the laser later.<\/p>\n

Print the file to the laser.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Dashboard Settings<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

We\u2019ve set up our Laser Dashboard to automatically split by color.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You can see three processes based on the colors in the file.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Blue for the names, black for the design, and red for the jig cutouts.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Change the red process to Vector.<\/p>\n

Import the settings for cutting 1\/8\u201d acrylic.<\/p>\n

Turn off the black and blue processes.<\/p>\n

Print the job to the laser.<\/p>\n

Cut out the Jig<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

load the laser with the desired jig material. For this lesson, we are using a sheet of acrylic.<\/p>\n

Select the file at the laser and press the start button.<\/p>\n

You now have a jig to use over and over.

Load the Jig<\/h2>\n

When you\u2019re ready to use the jig place it with the arrow at the top left corner of the table.<\/p>\n

Line up your leather notebooks in the cutouts.<\/p>\n

Pre-engrave Notebooks<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

Back at the computer we\u2019ll turn off the camera so we can see the design better.<\/p>\n

Turn off the red cutting layer.<\/p>\n

And change the black layer\u2019s process type to Engrave.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll import our settings for leather shallow engraving.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll also change the file name to Leather Notebook Design Only.<\/p>\n

And print it to the laser.<\/p>\n

If this is a file we\u2019ll run often, we can permanently save it at the laser for easy access.<\/p>\n

When you\u2019re ready, start the job.<\/p>\n

Now we have pre-engraved products ready for customization later!<\/p>\n

Add Customizations<\/h2>\n

When a customer order is ready, place the jig back in the laser and the pre-engraved item in one of the spaces.<\/p>\n

Simply type the name in the field of the notepad.<\/p>\n

Print the file to the laser and choose selection only.<\/p>\n

Choose our Leather Shallow engraving settings and print the file to the laser.<\/p>\n

Select the file at the laser and press the start button.<\/p>\n

In under a minute your custom notebook is ready for delivery!<\/p>\n
