{"id":17925,"date":"2024-09-26T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-26T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/support.epiloglaser.com\/staging\/laser-machine\/fusion-pro\/getting-started\/using-the-3-jaw-chuck-rotary-attachment_fusion-edge-pro\/"},"modified":"2025-04-01T15:04:54","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T21:04:54","slug":"using-the-3-jaw-chuck-rotary-attachment_fusion-edge-pro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/support.epiloglaser.com\/staging\/laser-machine\/fusion-edge\/rotary\/using-the-3-jaw-chuck-rotary-attachment_fusion-edge-pro\/","title":{"rendered":"Using the 3-Jaw Chuck Rotary Attachment"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 id=\"Installing-the-3_Jaw-Chuck\">Installing the 3-Jaw Chuck<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Before we get started, we will need to lower the laser table far enough to accommodate the 3-Jaw Chuck Rotary Attachment<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_02.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once the table is low enough, power off the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_03.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Measure &amp; record the diameter of the cylinder you plan on engraving; you will need this measurement later when setting up your parameters in the print driver.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_04.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To adjust the Rotary for the cylinder length, depress the blue anodized idle-side handle to move the support mechanism left or right to accommodate for different length cylinders.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_05.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select the appropriate jaw sizes, fixture plates and \/ or centering devices to fixture your cylinder in place in the rotary.<\/p>\n<p>The following fixture plates and additional components are included with all 3-Jaw Rotary Attachments:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_06.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul class=\"uk-list uk-list-striped\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"uk-list uk-list-striped\">\n<li>Fixture plates (2 each)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul class=\"uk-list uk-list-striped\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"uk-list uk-list-striped\">\n<li>Idle-side centering fixture (1 each)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul class=\"uk-list uk-list-striped\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"uk-list uk-list-striped\">\n<li>Plate spindle (1 each)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul class=\"uk-list uk-list-striped\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"uk-list uk-list-striped\">\n<li>Plate fixture thumb screws (2 each)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul class=\"uk-list uk-list-striped\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"uk-list uk-list-striped\">\n<li>3-Jaw tightening pins (2 each)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul class=\"uk-list uk-list-striped\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"uk-list uk-list-striped\">\n<li>Chuck Jaws (3 each of 3 sizes for different diameter parts\/components)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Insert the cylinder into the 3-Jaw Chuck and tighten the chuck so the cylinder is held firmly in place. Cylinders can be held from the inside diameter, or the outside diameter.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_07.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_08.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You will need to use the two tightening pins that are provided with the chuck in order to clamp the cylinder tightly into place.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_09.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In some cases, you may need to turn the adjustment knob at the far right end of the 3-Jaw Rotary to lower or raise the right side of the cylinder, and ensure the engraving surface is perfectly level.<\/p>\n<p>We recommend using a small level to ensure your rotary projects are set up properly.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_10.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_11.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Plug in the Rotary Attachment and position it in the upper left corner of the table.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_12.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_13.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Using-the-3_Jaw-Chuck\">Using the 3-Jaw Chuck<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Now you may power the laser back on.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_14.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once the laser has finished booting up, set the focus on your engraving piece. The 3-Jaw Chuck Rotary is designed to use manual focusing only. Auto focus cannot be used with the 3-Jaw Chuck Rotary.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_15.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Turn on the Red Dot Pointer.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_16.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select the Jog Menu button on the Control Panel and use the Joystick to move the carriage until the Manual Focus Gauge is above the point of focus.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_17.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Place the Manual Focus Gauge onto the laser assembly.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_18.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select the Focus Menu button on the Control Panel and use the Joystick to move the table up and down to focus on your cylinder.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_19.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_20.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Remove the Manual Focus Gauge when finished focusing.<\/p>\n<p>Now it\u2019s time to set the Home Position<\/p>\n<p>Select the Jog Menu button on the Control Panel, and use the Joystick to move the red pointer to the point on your cylinder where you want your Home Position to be located.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_21.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_22.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select the Centering Point icon to set the new Home Position.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_23.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the rotary installed, the diameter measured, and the cylinder held tightly in place, you are ready to print.<\/p>\n<p>In the Epilog Dashboard you will need to use the Preview tab and Advanced tab to set your laser parameters.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_24.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the Advanced tab, Select Center-Center engraving mode.<\/p>\n<p>Then select the 3-Jaw Chuck option and input your cylinder diameter.<\/p>\n<p>Now navigate to the Preview tab to set your Speed, Power, and other laser parameters.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_25.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once your parameters are set, print the job to the laser.<\/p>\n<p>Close the top access door on your laser system.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_26.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From the Display panel, select your job and press the Go button to start your job.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_27.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Remove-the-3_Jaw-Chuck\">Remove the Rotary Attachment<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Once you are finished using the 3-Jaw Chuck Rotary, always remember to first turn off the power to the laser before unplugging the rotary.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_28.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge-pro_using-3-jaw-chuck_29.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once the laser is powered off, depress the release tab on the connector and unplug the connector.
