{"id":17933,"date":"2024-09-26T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-26T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/support.epiloglaser.com\/staging\/laser-machine\/fusion-pro\/getting-started\/creating-a-3d-sphere-design-for-laser-engraving\/"},"modified":"2025-04-01T09:23:04","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T15:23:04","slug":"creating-a-3d-sphere-design-for-laser-engraving","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/support.epiloglaser.com\/staging\/laser-machine\/fibermark\/laser-techniques\/creating-a-3d-sphere-design-for-laser-engraving\/","title":{"rendered":"Creating a 3D Sphere Design for Laser Engraving"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 id=\"Setup-Artwork\">Setup the Artwork<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here we have a snowflake design that we\u2019ve replicated in an offset grid pattern to be transformed into a 3D sphere design.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Snowflake Grid Pattern\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/creating-3d-sphere-design_01.jpg\" alt=\"snowflake design in grid pattern\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select the design and drag it into the Symbols tab.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Name the design<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And set the export type to graphic.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Drag to symbols tab\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/creating-3d-sphere-design_02.jpg\" alt=\"drag design into the symbols tab and create new symbol\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Delete the design.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Create-3D-Effect\">Create 3D Sphere Effect<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Using the Ellipse tool, create a 4.5\u201d circle.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"create 4.5 inch circle\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/creating-3d-sphere-design_03.jpg\" alt=\"create 4.5 inch circle with the ellipse tool\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the circle selected, click on the filled arrow Direct Selection tool.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Highlight the top and bottom nodes of the circle.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Select the Cut Path at Selected Anchor Points tool from the menu bar.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Cut Path\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/creating-3d-sphere-design_04.jpg\" alt=\"After selecting the top and bottom anchor points, cut the path\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Under the Pathfinder tab, select the Divide tool.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Click Divide Path\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/creating-3d-sphere-design_05.jpg\" alt=\"Click Divide Path\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Delete the right node.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Select right shape\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/creating-3d-sphere-design_06.jpg\" alt=\"Select right shape\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Delete right shape\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/creating-3d-sphere-design_07.jpg\" alt=\"Delete right shape\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select the half circle and click the Unite tool in the Pathfinder tab Shape Modes.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Unite Shape\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/creating-3d-sphere-design_08.jpg\" alt=\"unite shape\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select the Effect menu &gt; 3D and Materials &gt;3D (Classic) &gt; Revolve (Classic)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Revolve (Classic)\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/creating-3d-sphere-design_09.jpg\" alt=\"Revolve (Classic)\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Set the three angles to 0 degrees. Next to Offset, select Right Edge. Set the Surface to No Shading. Click the Map Art button.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Set the Revolve options\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/creating-3d-sphere-design_10.jpg\" alt=\"Set the Revolve options\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click Invisible Geometry. Next to Symbol, select the symbol we created earlier.
