Near the back of the machine is the periscope housing that directs the laser beam from the laser tube to the top of the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"The Mini\/Helix's lens periscope is located near the back of the machine.\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/mini-helix_optics_05.jpg\" alt=\"The Mini\/Helix lens periscope.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This contains a mirror at the bottom and at the top, as well as a window across from the top mirror where the beam exits the housing.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The beam then travels to the end of the x-axis assembly, where a third mirror directs it down the x-axis of the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"The mirror at the end of the X-Axis Assembly directs the laser beam towards the lens assembly.\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/mini-helix_optics_06.jpg\" alt=\"The mirror at the end of the X-Axis Assembly.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Finally, a fourth mirror directs the beam down toward the work area through the main lens, which focuses the beam for cutting and engraving.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"The lens assembly mirror directs the beam down to the lens.\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/mini-helix_optics_07.jpg\" alt=\"The lens assembly.\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"The lens focuses the laser beam for engraving and cutting.\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/mini-helix_optics_08.jpg\" alt=\"The bottom of the lens assembly.\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Optics-Overview\">Optics Cleaning Overview<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The mirrors in the periscope housing are enclosed, and will likely require cleaning less often than the other components of the optics system.
