{"id":17943,"date":"2024-09-26T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-26T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/support.epiloglaser.com\/staging\/laser-machine\/fusion-pro\/getting-started\/laser-alignment_fusion\/"},"modified":"2025-12-31T10:16:56","modified_gmt":"2025-12-31T17:16:56","slug":"laser-alignment_fusion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/support.epiloglaser.com\/staging\/laser-machine\/fusion-m2\/calibrations\/laser-alignment_fusion\/","title":{"rendered":"Laser Alignment &#8211; Fusion \/ Fusion M2"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 id=\"Alignment-Target\">Alignment Target<\/h2>\n<p>Place the alignment target in the round opening on the side of the lens assembly.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_01.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then cover the alignment target with a small piece of masking tape.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_02.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the control panel, use the arrow buttons to select \u2018Jog.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_03.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then use the joystick to move the lens carriage to the front right corner of the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_04.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_05.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Close the machine\u2019s lid.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_06.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the control panel, press and hold the \u201cLaser On\u201d button and tap the joystick to the left or right once or twice to fire the laser.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_07.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_08.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then press the \u201cRed Dot Pointer\u201d button.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_09.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_10.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Align-Red-Dot-Laser\">Align Red Dot to Laser<\/h2>\n<p>We\u2019ll begin by aligning the red dot laser to the main laser.<\/p>\n<p>Remove the top access panel on the left side of the machine by using a 5\/32\u201d hex key to turn the black panel locks \u00be of the way counter-clockwise.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_11.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Use a 5\/32\u201d hex key to remove the bottom main panel and the top right panel on the back of the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_12.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_13.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_14.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Locate the red dot pointer mount in the rear of the machine. Use a 3\/32\u201d hex key to adjust the alignment screws on the red dot pointer mount.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_09.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_15.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Align the red dot to the burn mark on the alignment target. The two laser beams are now aligned with each other.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_16.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Align-First-Mirror\">Align First Mirror<\/h2>\n<p>Remove the tape from the alignment target.<\/p>\n<p>Use the control panel to jog the lens carriage to the back left corner of the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_17.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Through the bottom panel on the left side of the machine, use a 3\/32\u201d hex key to adjust the alignment screws on the mirror at the bottom of the periscope.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_18.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Align the red dot to the center of the alignment target.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_19.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_20.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Align-Second-Mirror\">Align Second Mirror<\/h2>\n<p>Now jog the lens carriage to the front left corner of the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_21.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Through the top right corner panel on the back of the machine, use a 3\/32\u201d hex key to adjust the alignment screws on the mirror at the top of the periscope.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_22.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Align the red dot to the center of the alignment target.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_23.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_24.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Jog the lens carriage back to the back left corner of the machine and make sure the red dot is still within the center circle of the alignment target.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_25.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If the red dot is not properly positioned, continue to adjust the alignment screws on the mirrors until you can jog between the front and back corners on the left side of the machine without the red dot leaving the center of the alignment target.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Align-Third-Mirror\">Align Third Mirror<\/h2>\n<p>Now jog the lens carriage to the back right corner of the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_26.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Use a 3\/32\u201d hex key to adjust the alignment screws on the mirror at the left end of the x-axis assembly.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_27.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Align the red dot to the center of the alignment target.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_28.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_29.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then jog the lens carriage to the front right corner of the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_30.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Use a 3\/32\u201d hex key to adjust the alignment screws on the mirror at the left end of the x-axis assembly.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_31.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Align the red dot to the center of the alignment target.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_32.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Jog the lens carriage to the various corners of the machine and make sure the red dot is still within the center circle of the alignment target at all corners.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_33.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If the red dot is not consistently positioned at the center, go back to the first mirror alignment step and repeat the adjustment process until you can jog the lens carriage to all four corners without the red dot leaving the center of the target.<\/p>\n<p>Once the red dot is properly aligned, remove the alignment target from the lens assembly.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Align-Fourth-Mirror\">Align Fourth Mirror<\/h2>\n<p>Hang your lens\u2019s focus gauge on the lens assembly and position the alignment target directly beneath the gauge.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_34.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the control panel, use the arrow buttons to select \u2018Focus,\u2019 then use the joystick to move the table vertically until the focus gauge just barely touches the alignment target.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_35.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_36.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the control panel, press in the joystick once to set this table position as the origin.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_37.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Set the focus gauge aside.<\/p>\n<p>With the red dot pointer still turned on, place the alignment target beneath the lens so that the red dot is directly in the center of the target.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_38.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the control panel still set to \u2018Focus,\u2019 use the joystick to lower the table until the display reads around +3.000.<\/p>\n<p>Check to see if the red dot has moved out of the center of the alignment target.<\/p>\n<p>If it has, use a 3\/32\u201d hex key to adjust the alignment screws on the lens carriage mirror.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_39.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Align the red dot to the center of the alignment target.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_40.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the control panel still set to \u2018Focus,\u2019 use the joystick to raise the table until the display reads approximately 0.000 again.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_41.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Make sure the red dot is still within the center circle of the alignment target.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_42.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If the red dot is not properly positioned, continue to adjust the alignment screws until you can lower and raise the table without the red dot leaving the center of the alignment target.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Reinstall-Panels\">Reinstall Panels<\/h2>\n<p>Once the red dot is aligned, use a 5\/32\u201d hex key to replace the bottom main panel and the top right panel on the back of the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_43.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_44.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Replace the top access panel on the left side of the machine by using a 5\/32\u201d hex key to turn the black panel locks \u00be of the way clockwise.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_45.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Plug the machine in and turn it on.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_laser-alignment_46.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\"
