{"id":18006,"date":"2024-09-24T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-24T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/support.epiloglaser.com\/staging\/laser-machine\/fusion-pro\/getting-started\/control-panel_edge\/"},"modified":"2024-09-24T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2024-09-24T06:00:00","slug":"control-panel_edge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/support.epiloglaser.com\/staging\/laser-machine\/fusion-edge\/control-circuit-boards\/control-panel_edge\/","title":{"rendered":"Replacing the Control Panel"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 id=\"Replacing the Control Panel\">Replacing the Control Panel<\/h2>\n<p>We\u2019re going to walk you through replacing the control panel on the Epilog Fusion Edge laser system.<\/p>\n<p>Turn off and unplug the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge_replacing-the-control-panel_01.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Remove-Panel\">Remove Panel<\/h2>\n<p>Using a 5\/32&#8243; Hex Key, remove the 8 screws that secure the right-hand side access panel and set them to the side. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge_replacing-the-control-panel_02.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Remove-Old-Keypad\">Remove Old Keypad<\/h2>\n<p>Open the display panel package you received and put on the anti-static strap. Clip the strap on to any metal part of the machine. Always wear the anti-static strap when handling the control board to avoid damaging the unit through static discharge.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge_replacing-the-control-panel_03.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Remove the 4 screws that secure the control panel to the machine\u2019s chassis. Note: The two Allen screws used in the rear of the control assembly are longer than the ones used in the front. These need to be re-installed in the same location.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge_replacing-the-control-panel_04.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge_replacing-the-control-panel_05.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Gently lift the front of the display and pull it towards you while rotating the front of the control panel up. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge_replacing-the-control-panel_06.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>There are a total of 12 connections that need to be disconnected from the control panel assembly before it can be removed.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"uk-list uk-list-striped\">\n<li>4 in the front<\/li>\n<li>1 in the center<\/li>\n<li>7 at the rear<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are two that need you need to pay close attention to.<\/p>\n<p>The display port connection is at the front of the control panel assembly. The display cable needs to be reconnected to the one it was removed from.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge_replacing-the-control-panel_07.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The USB connector is at the rear of the control panel assembly. There are two ports built into a single socket. Note which one the cable is connected to, it will need to be reinstalled in to the same one.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge_replacing-the-control-panel_08.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The remainder are unique and will only connect in to one location on the board.<\/p>\n<p>Once the electrical connectors are de-mated, set the old control assembly to one side.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge_replacing-the-control-panel_09.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge_replacing-the-control-panel_10.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Turn the control panel on its back on a soft surface.<\/p>\n<p>Locate the SD card slot on the board.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge_replacing-the-control-panel_11.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Remove the SD card and set it to the side.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have your new control board, install the SD card printed side up into the SD card slot.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge_replacing-the-control-panel_12.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Turn the control panel on its back on a soft surface.<\/p>\n<p>Locate the coin battery and remove it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge_replacing-the-control-panel_13.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Install the new coin battery in its place.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge_replacing-the-control-panel_14.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Install-New-Keypad\">Install New Keypad<\/h2>\n<p>Position the replacement control assembly over engravers chassis, with the rear much lower than the front.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge_replacing-the-control-panel_15.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Connect the 7 electrical connections along the rear of the control panel paying close attention to the slot the USB connection is installed in. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge_replacing-the-control-panel_16.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Connect the Flex cable to the center port on the control panel assembly. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-edge_replacing-the-control-panel_17.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Connect the 4 remaining connectors to the electrical connections at the front of the control panel assembly, paying close attention to the Display cable port.
