{"id":18018,"date":"2024-09-24T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-24T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/support.epiloglaser.com\/staging\/laser-machine\/fusion-pro\/getting-started\/replacing-the-x-belt-on-the-fusion-pro\/"},"modified":"2025-04-09T15:03:18","modified_gmt":"2025-04-09T21:03:18","slug":"replacing-the-x-belt-on-the-fusion-pro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/support.epiloglaser.com\/staging\/laser-machine\/fusion-pro\/service-and-repair\/replacing-the-x-belt-on-the-fusion-pro\/","title":{"rendered":"Replacing the X-Axis Belt on the Fusion Pro"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 id=\"Loosen-X_Belt\">Loosen X-Belt<\/h2>\n<p>Start by powering of and unplugging the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_01.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_02.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Using a 5\/32\u201d Allen Key, remove the left side panel from the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_03.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At the left side of the engraver, loosen the four idler mounting screws located on the front side of the x-axis assembly, and the four idler mounting screws located on the rear of the x-axis assembly.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_06.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_07.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Remove the tension from the x-axis belt by loosening the two 7\/64\u201d screws on the idler assembly body.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_08.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now it\u2019s time to remove the Belt Clamps. Manually move the lens carriage to the right side of the machine.<\/p>\n<p>Locate the x-axis belt clamps, just to the left and right side of the lens carriage assembly. Using a 3\/32\u201d Allen key, remove the four inner x-axis belt clamp mounting screws.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_09.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Connecting\">Connecting Old X-Belt to New X-Belt<\/h2>\n<p>Now we will connect the old belt to the new belt to ensure successful installation of the new X-axis belt.<\/p>\n<p>Thoroughly clean the outer (smooth) side of the belt that is currently installed in the engraver.<\/p>\n<p>Pull the right side of the belt away from the lens assembly and place it next to the new belt end-to-end.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_10.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Using Duct Tape, or a similar, heavy-duty tape, join the old and new belts together by placing a strip of tape on the outer (smooth) sides.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_11.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Before securing both the old and new belts together, ensure that the orientation of the teeth match. The teeth of the belt just face towards the rear of the engraver, while the smooth side should face the front of the engraver.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_12.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Place an additional piece of tape around the connection point of the new and old belts.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_13.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once the new and old belts have been joined together, attach the right-side belt clamp to the untaped side of the new belt. This will prevent the new belt from being pulled into the reducer housing.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_14.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Ensure that the belt clamp is centered on the belt before tightening the clamp.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_15.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Replacing-Old-Belt\">Replace Old X-Belt with New<\/h2>\n<p>Slowly pull on the left side of the old belt to remove it while subsequently threading the new belt through the x-axis assembly.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_16.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once the connection point between the new and old belts has exited the idler assembly on the left side of the x-axis assembly, disconnect the belts by removing the tape.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_17.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_18.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Install the belt clamps by connecting the remaining belt clamp to the left side of the x-axis belt, ensuring that it is centered on the belt before tightening the clamp.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_19.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Place the belt clamps in position. Install and tighten the four 3\/32\u201d inner x-axis belt clamp mounting screws.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_20.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Tension-New-Belt\">Tension New X-Belt<\/h2>\n<p>Now it\u2019s time to tension the X-axis belt. Begin to apply tension to the X-axis belt via the two 7\/64\u201d x-axis belt tensioning screws that were loosened earlier until there is no slack left on the belt.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_21.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once the slack is removed, you will need to run an engraving test.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Engraving-Test\">Engraving Test<\/h2>\n<p>Plug in and power on the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_22.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_23.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Open your preferred illustrating program and create a black raster box on an artboard that is:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"uk-list uk-list-striped\">\n<li>\u2022 For Pro 48: 46\u201d or 1100mm wide<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 For Pro 32: 30\u201d or 800mm wide<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 and Roughly 4\u201d or 100mm tall<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Set the speed to 100%. The power setting is unimportant, since we will be running the job with the machine lid open and the laser will not be firing.<\/p>\n<p>Send the job to the engraver and start the job.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_24.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_25.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At the display panel, press the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the display to open the Settings menu.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_26.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Press and hold the word \u201cSettings\u201d that appears at the touch of the touchpad to gain access to the Advanced Settings menu.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_27.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once in the Advanced Settings menu, enter the Diagnostics menu and locate the RMS Current reading for the X-Axis Motor\/Drive.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_x-axis-tensioning-belt_28.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While the job is running, the x-axis motor RMS current should be between 5.2 &#8211;
