{"id":18026,"date":"2024-09-24T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-24T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/support.epiloglaser.com\/staging\/laser-machine\/fusion-pro\/getting-started\/x-axis-assembly_fusion\/"},"modified":"2024-09-24T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2024-09-24T06:00:00","slug":"x-axis-assembly_fusion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/support.epiloglaser.com\/staging\/laser-machine\/fusion-m2\/service-and-repair\/x-axis-assembly_fusion\/","title":{"rendered":"X-Axis Assembly Replacement"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 id=\"Remove-Panels\">Remove Panels<\/h2>\n<p>With the machine powered on, use the control panel to scroll down to \u2018Jog.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_01.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then use the joystick to move the x-axis assembly toward the middle of the machine to give you room to work.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_02.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Shut off the laser and remove the power cord from the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_03.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_04.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Remove the top access panels on both the left and right side of the machine by using a 5\/32\u201d hex key to turn the black panel locks \u00be of the way counter-clockwise.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_05.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_06.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Disconnect-X_Axis-Assembly\">Disconnect X-Axis Assembly<\/h2>\n<p>On the right side of the machine, locate the wire harness, which electronically connects the x-axis assembly to the rest of the system. The wire harness and its plastic guard are held secure by the wire harness clamp. With a screwdriver, remove the clamp screw on the side of the blue housing and loosen the clamp screw on top. Then remove the clamp and set it aside.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_07.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next, disconnect the white connector from its socket by squeezing the lock tab on the bottom of the connector and pulling it away from the circuit board.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_08.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Remove the black connector as well.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_09.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now, remove the lens assembly by loosening the three thumb screws on its front face until they spin freely. They are captive screws and will not come out of the assembly.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_10.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Slide the assembly out of its housing and set it aside.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_11.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the left side of the machine, find and disconnect the Air Assist tube from the x-axis assembly. Press the ring toward the rear of the engraver while pulling on the black tube.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_12.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Remove-X_Axis-Assembly\">Remove Old X-Axis Assembly<\/h2>\n<p>Now it\u2019s time to remove the x-axis assembly. On both ends of the assembly, loosen the two green captive screws until they turn freely.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_13.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_14.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Carefully lift the assembly from its mounted position and carry it out through the right side of the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_15.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_16.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Install-X_Axis-Assembly\">Install New X-Axis Assembly<\/h2>\n<p>Insert the new x-axis assembly through the right side of the machine. Place it on its mounting points, lining it up with the guide pins so there is no space between the bottom of the assembly and the screw mounts.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_17.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_18.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Use a screwdriver to tighten the green captive screws on both sides.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_19.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next, connect the wire harness by plugging in the black and white connectors.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_20.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_21.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Retrieve the wire harness clamp and position the wire harness and its plastic guard so that the harness is on top of the guard and both are under the clamp on the x-axis assembly. Be sure that the wires between the wire harness and the circuit board have some slack and are not drawn tight.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_22.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Secure the clamp by inserting the two screws with a screwdriver.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion_x-axis-assembly-replacement_23.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Reinsert the Air Assist tube on the left end of the assembly.
