{"id":18047,"date":"2024-09-24T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-24T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/support.epiloglaser.com\/staging\/laser-machine\/fusion-pro\/getting-started\/replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly\/"},"modified":"2024-09-24T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2024-09-24T06:00:00","slug":"replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/support.epiloglaser.com\/staging\/laser-machine\/fusion-pro\/service-and-repair\/replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly\/","title":{"rendered":"Replacing the Reducer Drive Assembly"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 id=\"Remove Panels\">Remove Panels<\/h2>\n<p>First, power off and unplug the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_01.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_02.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Using a 5\/32&#8221; Allen Key, remove the right side panel from the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_03.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Using a 5\/32&#8221; Allen Key, remove the left side panel from the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_04.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Manually move the x-axis assembly to the middle of the engraver.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_05.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Remove the X-axis assembly from the machine.<\/p>\n<p>Remove the lens tube by using a Philips head screwdriver to unscrew the captive screw securing the front lens clamp.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_06.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Remove the left and right bellows on both sides of the machine by loosening the six (6) 5\/16\u201d nuts which secure them in place.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_07.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_08.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Put on the anti-static wrist strap. Clip the strap on to any metal part of the machine. Always wear the anti-static strap to avoid damaging the unit through static discharge.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_09.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the 4 screws that secure the x-axis motor drive board cover and set the cover to the side.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_10.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_11.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_12.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now, disconnect the 7 electrical connectors from the drive board and set the board to the side.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_13.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Remove the 4 mounting screws supporting the drive board using a Phillips Screwdriver.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_14.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Take off the anti-static wrist strap until needed when replacing the motor drive board.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_15.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Remove the four 5\/32\u201d fasteners that secure the x-axis assembly to the y-axis bearings. There are two on the right side and two on the left side.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_16.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_17.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_18.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Slide the x-axis assembly out of the engraver through the right side of the machine, taking care to clear the carriage assembly through the opening without damage.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_19.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Loosen the four 2.5 mm x-axis motor mounting screws and move the x-axis motor towards the center of the x-axis assembly.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_20.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_21.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Remove-Reducer-Belt\">Remove the X-Axis Reducer Belt<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_22.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Using a 7\/64\u201d Allen Key, remove the four screws that secure the x-axis reducer assembly in place.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_23.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At the left side of the engraver, loosen the four 7\/64&#8221; idler mounting screws located on the front side of the x-axis assembly, and the four idler mounting screws at the rear of the x-axis assembly.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_24.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_25.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Remove the tension from the x-axis belt by loosening the two 7\/64&#8221; screws on the idler assembly body.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_26.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Remove the x-axis reducer from the reducer\/motor housing.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_27.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_28.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Pull the x-axis belt away from the center of the x-axis assembly.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_29.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Place the reducer assembly in the reducer\/motor housing. Ensure that the notch on the reducer baseplate is pointing towards the x-axis motor.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_30.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_31.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Install the x-axis reducer assembly and the four 7\/64\u201d Allen screws that secure it to the x-axis assembly.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_32.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_33.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Install-Reducer-Belt\">Install the X-Axis Reducer Belt<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_34.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Using your hands, manually apply tension to the reducer drive belt by pulling the x-axis motor away from the reducer.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_35.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once the slack has been removed from the reducer belt, tighten the four 2.5 mm x-axis motor mounting screws.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_36.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now it\u2019s time to tension the x-axis belt, begin to apply tension to the belt by tightening the two 7\/64 belt tensioning screws that were loosened earlier, until there is no slack left on the belt.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_37.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now you may re-install the X-axis Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>Insert the x-axis assembly through the right side of the engraver, taking care to clear the carriage assembly through the opening without damage.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_38.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once fully inserted, place the x-axis assembly onto the y-axis bearing blocks. On the y-axis bearing blocks is a locating pin that ensures the correct placement on the x-axis assembly. These pins fit into an opening on both the left and right side of the x-axis assembly.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_39.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Install and\/or tighten the four 5\/32\u201d fasteners that secure the x-axis assembly to the y-axis bearings. There are two on the right side and two on the left side.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_40.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_41.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_42.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Put on the anti-static wrist strap, clipping the strap to any metal part of the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_43.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Replace the 4 mounting screws supporting the drive board with a Phillips Screwdriver.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_44.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Reconnect the seven (7) electrical connectors from the drive board. The electrical connectors on the drive board are all unique and as such, will only fit into one receptacle.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_45.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Replace the x-axis motor drive board cover and tighten the 4 screws securing it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_46.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_47.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_48.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Reconnect the left and right bellows on both sides of the machine and tighten the six 5\/16\u201d nuts which secure them in place.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_49.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_50.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Install the lens tube by tightening the Phillips screw on the retaining collar which secures it, ensuring that it does not fall.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_51.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Plug in and power on the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_52.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_53.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After installation of a new x-axis assembly, confirm the home position is accurate and recalibrate it if needed.<\/p>\n<p>Plug in and power on the machine.<\/p>\n<p>Once the slack is removed, you will need to run an engraving test.<\/p>\n<p>Plug in and power on the machine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_01.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Open your preferred illustrating program and create a black raster box on an artboard that is:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"uk-list uk-list-striped\">\n<li>\u2022 For Pro 48: 46\u201d or 1100mm wide<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 For Pro 32: 30\u201d or 800mm wide<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 and Roughly 4\u201d or 100mm tall<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Set the speed to 100%. The power setting is unimportant, since we will be running the job with the machine lid open and the laser will not be firing.<\/p>\n<p>Send the job to the engraver and start the job.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_54.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_55.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At the display panel, press the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the display to open the Settings menu.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_56.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Press and hold the word \u201cSettings\u201d that appears at the touch of the touchpad to gain access to the Advanced Settings menu.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_57.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once in the Advanced Settings menu, enter the Diagnostics menu and locate the RMS Current reading for the X-Axis Motor\/Drive.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fusion-pro_replacing-the-reducer-drive-assembly_58.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While the job is running, the x-axis motor RMS current should be between 5.2 &#8211;
