Power Consumption and Your Laser
How much power does an Epilog Laser system use, and how much does it ultimately cost to run one?
Using the formula and information below, you can discover how much power our laser systems draw as well as how much it costs to operate a laser. Most users are pleasantly surprised at how energy and cost efficient these powerful systems are - even our highest-wattage machine costs less than a dollar a day to operate!
The cost of operating the laser can be easily figured out by plugging your electricity rates into the formula below.
Laser System: 120-watt Fusion Pro 48 (we'll demonstrate with our largest and highest wattage laser)
Typical Maximum Power Consumption of the Laser: 1900 watts
Power Costs per Kilowatt Hours: $0.075 (This will be different based on your electric company.)
(wattage x power cost / 1000) x Time in hours = cost to operate the laser for one hour
(1900 x $0.075) / 1000 x 1 = $0.143
So it costs, roughly, just under 15 cents per hour to run the laser, or $1.20 per eight hour day. And that's for the highest wattage machine that Epilog manufactures - a 60-watt system would be approximately half that cost.
Keep in mind these numbers may fluctuate depending on your machine and local energy costs; however, the differences will be minimal and will still result in a very cost-effective, energy-efficient operation.
