Engraving Small Wood Photos with PhotoLaser Plus
How can I engrave small photos on wood with PhotoLaser Plus?
With the introduction of PhotoLaser Plus, photo engraving has vastly improved. But at Epilog Laser, we're always looking for ways to make it even better. One of the improvements we’ve recently made is creating a setting that allows you to see more detail when engraving very small photos on wood.
Take a look below at the results from the new setting we developed, which is now available for download, Use this setting with your copy of PhotoLaser Plus and your Epilog Laser System.
Photo Engraved on an 10" x 8" plaque
Project: Engrave 10" x 8" cherry plaque with high-resolution graphic.
PhotoLaser Plus Settings: Wood Setting 600 DPI Epilog
This is the type of project that PhotoLaser Plus excels at when partnered with your Epilog Laser. It's a high-contrast wood with a high-resolution graphic.
The Problem: Engrave that same photo at a very small size.
Project: Engrave 3" x 2.25" alder plank with the same graphic.
PhotoLaser Plus Settings: Wood Setting 600 DPI Epilog
Taking that much detail and reducing the size to three inches is a daunting task for any photo software. While the current wood settings from Epilog do allow you to engrave well at such small dimensions, we wanted to see what we could do to make it even better.
The Solution: A new setting for PhotoLaser Plus
Project: Engrave 3" x 2.25" alder plank with the same graphic.
PhotoLaser Plus Settings: Wood Setting 600 DPI Epilog Small Images
With some adjustments to the dithering settings that PhotoLaser Plus uses when running small assets/img/knowledge-base on your Epilog Laser we're getting fantastic results on even these extremely small graphics! You'll notice much sharper detail in the engraving with this new setting. Download it now and start trying it with your favorite photos!
