Causes and steps to fix no camera feed in the Epilog Dashboard.

All Fusion Maker, Edge, Pro, and G100 engravers are equipped with the IRIS camera system that superimpose artwork over the engraving table and material in the Epilog Dashboard software. Occasionally, the IRIS camera feed can become missing or unresponsive. Several things can cause this behavior and include network issues such as an IP conflict, a bandwidth deficiency, or a security issue stemming from anti-virus software or firewall settings are the most common causes.

Read below for the most helpful troubleshooting steps.

  • The most common cause of a missing camera feed in the Dashboard is incorrect network settings.
  • Check network settings at the engraver, the computer, and the Job Manager software to ensure that they are correct and change if necessary.
  • If no camera feed appears in the Job Manager and the network settings appear correct, confirm that the computer and engraver are able to communicate by sending a job to the engraver.

If the job does not make it to the engraver:

  • Check that the engraver is not sharing an IP address with the computer or another device on the network.
  • This can be done by pinging the engraver IP address using Command Prompt. Ping the engraver using the command “ping 192.168.x.x”, or whatever IP the engraver is using, while the engraver is turned on.
  • If a response is received from that specific IP address, turn the engraver off, and resend the ping command. While the engraver is off, we do not expect a response. If a response is received while the engraver is turned off, another device on the network is using the same IP address as the engraver.
    1. Find an available IP address and assign the new IP address to the engraver, also ensuring that the engraver IP address is changed in the Job Manager Software.

If the job makes it to the engraver, but the camera feed does not appear in the Job Manager:

  • Attempt to stream the camera feeds on the UI using the Diagnostics Menu.
  • If the camera feeds do not show on the UI of the engraver or an error message appears, attempt to update the cameras using the Diagnostic Menu.
    1. After updating the cameras, restart the engraver and the Job Manager software.
    2. If no camera feed appears in the Job Manager, attempt to stream the camera feeds on the UI using the Diagnostic Menu.
  • If the camera feeds show on the UI of the engraver, we can assume that the camera system is working as intended.
    1. In this case, there may be a bandwidth issue, anti-virus, or a firewall setting on the computer preventing the camera feeds from streaming in the Job Manager.
      1. To investigate a bandwidth issue, configure the engraver as a direct-connect ethernet connection and observe if the camera feeds appear.
      2. To investigate an anti-virus or firewall issue, temporarily suspend the program.
  • Navigate to the Diagnostic menu on the engraver and update the cameras using the attached document.
  • If the camera feed still does not appear in the Epilog Dashboard, contact Epilog Laser Technical Support.
