When to Calibrate the IRIS Camera System

When do I need to calibrate the IRIS camera system?

Introduction

All Fusion Maker, Edge, Pro, and G100 engravers are equipped with the IRIS camera system that superimpose artwork over the engraving table and material in the Epilog Dashboard software. The accuracy of the IRIS camera system is dependent on an accurate camera and focus calibration.

Camera calibration may need to be completed if:

  • There is a large discrepancy between the artwork placement in the Epilog Dashboard and the artwork engraving location on the table.
  • The camera feed in the Epilog Dashboard appears rotated
    • They can appear at a 90- or 180-degree angle
  • The camera feed in the Epilog Dashboard contains artifacts such as:
    • A black semi-circle overlay
    • A white or black bar covering areas of the feed
  • The camera feed shows a distinct separation of the cameras in engravers with two overhead cameras
  • A camera has been replaced
  • The SD card in the control assembly has been replaced

A camera calibration will not fix:

  • Missing camera feeds in the Epilog Dashboard.
  • Missing camera streams on the engraver while in the Diagnostic Menu
  • Issues with camera accuracy due to engraving at an incorrect focus distance.
